Oceanic Roots

In French Polynesia, roots run seaward first. Here the ocean came before the land, and it shaped a people, their gestures and their way of seeing the world. Made in black and white, this series explores that anchorage: founding waves, fishing, families, rituals, tattoos, marks left on the ground — a way of inhabiting a place where sea and land are one and the same. "Racines Océanes" speaks of transmission, of continuity, and of a bond lived from within, far from any exoticism.
